not a care in the world

Yesterday I was walking past the school with my sister, when recess ended. We watched the kids run towards the school with reckless abandon. It was a happy little migration, and it looked like so much fun. But neither of us have ran like that in a while. (It's wintertime. Even though we have no snow.) We laughed about things like jiggling, joint pain, and the inevitable red face. It was hilarious.

Later in the afternoon I played outside with my pirates. They run with reckless abandon. They don't have jiggles. And they don't care about red faces. I know it won't always be that way, but I'm terribly happy that I get to be part of this bit in their life... and that I can join in the fun.
