Perpetual.

The other day I took Erikboy to get a hair cut. It took several days of convincing to get him to believe it wouldn't hurt but as we walked in I could tell he still wasn't there. He was crying. We walked in. "What can I help you with today?" asked the chipper little hair stylist.
"My son needs a hair cut!" I said, as I pointed to where Erikboy was hiding behind me.
"Only that one?" she asked. Which I'm sure was meant as a benign comment- but an innocent bystander would have laughed after taking a look at Squish's hair.

It seems life is getting ahead of me. Every now and then it does that. But this week it has been perpetual. I have perpetual crumbs on the floor. Perpetual messes in the basement. Perpetual laundry... and I am behind on almost everything I've needed to do. Perpetually.

But somehow... it's kind of glorious. I'm human.

  1. I feel ya. And with the approaching #3 I have a feeling it's just going to get more perpetual, as you say. I'm trying to reframe my thinking on what "clean" and "organized" and "on time" really mean. And let the little things go. I'll let you know how that works out for me. :) :) :) I have a feeling it's going to be a lifetime of reframing.
