good golly.

Today I had a conversation with our neighbor that went a little-something like this:

Me: "Your yard always looks great! I'm so impressed."
Neighbor: "mmhmm... Thank you."
Me: "We're trying!... I hope you dont' mind our weed beds too terribly much."
Neighbor: "mmm..."
(crickets, tumbleweeds... one leaky faucet two miles away.)

And then I excused myself somehow.
I started thinking about all kinds of things: like how I feel about what other people think (they're entitled to their own opinions) or do Super People really exist? (I believe they have lots of money) or should I purchase Round-Up? (yes, but only after I've purchased groceries, cleaned my refrigerator, and read books with my pirates.)

It was a fascinating introspection.

But it lasted only as long as it took to walk into the house. The pirates were starving, the sink needed clearing, the counter needed wiping, Squish needed water, and the back door needed shut. (The A.C. was on.)

My plate is full,
but I like having my little plate full.
...and good golly I do love having priorities.

  1. And seasons. One day (at least they tell me) those kiddos will be old enough to tell a weed from a flower and be excited to dig in the dirt right beside you. But for now, clean sink is definitely high on my priority list, too!

  2. I'm right there with you ladies. Our yard is probably the bane of our neighborhood's existence. I think about it every time I pull into our driveway, but honestly, I would rather have a clean house for my crawler to crawler around in right now, than a perfect, weedless yard.
