Yesterday was Robs' very first day of Spring Break... Ever. Last week we compiled a list of "Things to Do." Exciting things, of course, like: Return Library Books. Dig holes.
Visit the Zoo.
Monday was our Zoo Day.
After we got the kitchen cleaned, the beds made, lots of hair washed, and finished eating lunch- it was (finally) time to go. Robs and Enriqueboy had been talking about THE TRAIN all morning- and Robs was sure that if we waited one minute more, we'd miss it. But then we got to the Zoo, and apparently Monday was Zoo Day for all of Salt Lake.
Maybe even the world.
We walked through the gates and saw the line for the train. Six miles. I suggested we try another day but the Pirates were intent on riding the train. I thought I'd be oh-so-smart and look at animals first, but by the time we got back it had swelled to six and a half, possibly seven miles long.
We waited through the line- and just as we were almost to the front, Enriqueboy had second thoughts. He asked me quietly if the engineer was nice or mean. I said nice, and we scooted to our seat. The train took all of five minutes and the Pirates loved it. Towards the end there were two mannequins on display chopping wood and wheelbarrowing, and as we passed I saw Robs throw them quite the look. She thinks that kind of stuff is creepy
... and I think her looks are awesome.
In all of five minutes we went over a bridge, around a couple corners through a tunnel and past a fake graveyard so we could see geese, baby geese, cougars, bison, goats, fake men with fake beards and the parking lot.
Robs' favorite part was the baby geese.
Enriqueboy loved the engine.
Squish loved sitting on the seat.
It was a grand success.
After dinner Robs wrote and illustrated a book about our day.
It was a grand success.
