Yesterday was PICTURE DAY.
Instead of the usual khaki, navy blue, yellow or white,
the students got to wear their fancy clothes.
Fancy clothes... NOT church clothes, as Robs later pointed out.
I was thumbing through her church dresses,
as I asked her what she would have worn,
had I remembered it was PICTURE DAY.
But I had not.
Instead,
PICTURE DAY morning found all of us tucked into one bed,
chit chatting until about 7:30 a.m.
And then we got up to finish the homework we didn't do the previous night.
(She had to write three 1's, three 2's, and three 3's.)
I made a breakfast
and she ate it while I packed her lunch.
She got dressed in her uniform finery,
and I braided her hair.
She was out the door by 7:56,
and walked into the classroom at 7:59.
Living across the street is one of the greatest inventions.
Ever.
Calendars, and pens, and daily reminders are pretty good inventions too.
And I won't let PICTURE RETAKE DAY slip past.
Luckily, Robs has the confidence of a Queen.
