And now almost six weeks later...

She has cheeks! And chins! She grew out of newborn clothes and newborn diapers about a week ago. She's still not sleeping at night... and Steve thinks its because the house is too quiet. (She  consistently sleeps best in the late afternoon when everyone is at their busiest.) But we love and adore her. Having a baby in a family with older children is a different experience. We're busy... and nothing has really slowed down. We've just added a tiny new person to the family, who the pirates want to touch, and hold, and talk to... and tell me how much they love her.

Two days ago Erikboy said "Thanks for having a baby, Mom." I laughed and gave him a big smooch. (How many mamas hear their gestation is appreciated?!) Squísh (who says everything Erikboy says) caught on real quick and has said it every day since. But Squísh also tells me Em is a nice baby, and follows it with a "So let's keep her." Em is a blessing, and we love her.

(We'd love her even if she was a skinny little thing. But those cheeks are a bonus!)
