shorter story

We have a case of cabin fever ...a real good one. Yesterday afternoon we were all grumpin'. The pirates were grumpin' that they'd only been able to play on the computer, and not outside as well. I was grumpin' because the pirates were grumpy. (And the sink was full of dishes.) Squish was grumpin' because she was tired. Grump. Grump. Grump.

Steve came home right as we were wrapping everything up. We were saying our "sorrys" when he came bouncing through the door. (...Like good-looking, sweet relief dressed in a suit.) He noticed we were quiet and figured something had happened, so we told him the whole soggy story. I caught him laughing as he ran upstairs to change. He came back and we put the pirates in coats, hats, gloves, and boots. They shoveled the driveway and rode bikes whilst I managed dinner. Erikboy fell so they came inside. We ate dinner. Steve managed the sink full of dishes and after finishing he came downstairs to find us reading. The pirates clobbered him with books and their full attention. Short story? We went from grumpfest to awesome in less than ninety minutes.  Even shorter story? I love Steve.
