San Diego, Day One.

For Christmas I gave Steve an orange manila envelope with a calendar and two round trip tickets to San Diego. Originally it was scheduled for last weekend... but we moved it to this past weekend. And I'm so glad we did. The weather was literally perfect. On Thursday morning we left our house before most people would even think of waking up, and then arrived in sunny San Diego before most people were done with breakfast. We rented a sassy red car, and never. stopped. moving. We ran to the beach. We explored side streets. We drove over giant bridges. We buried our feet in the sand. We rented single speed beach cruisers and took an island town on two wheels. We found a thrift store and three dollar glittery red shoes. We went house hunting for future investments. We took a tour of historic San Diego and paused long enough to pan for three gold nuggets. We ate delicious food until we could eat no more. And towards the end of the day we made our way to the top of a hill (mountain?) as the sun set behind us. We fell asleep dreaming of plans to come back next year with the pirates in tow. It was so warm. And  so uncomplicated. And such a delightful end to our frigid, frigid January.

  1. Looks like a fun trip! You probably rode your bike right past my grandma and grandpa's house, I recognize all the places. One of my favorites!
