Last Thursday Steve and I went to our very first Parent Teacher Conference: as parents.
It makes me laugh, because I don't feel old enough to do these sorts of things.
I can CLEARLY remember my mom and dad going to Parent Teacher Conferences, when I was the student. Time is so much shorter than we think it is.
We found out that Robs is doing splendid. It was no surprise.
One wall has pictures of all the students in the class.
(We checked out her not-secret-at-all admirer.)
The photos were taken on the first day of school next to a tiger made of balloons.
Everyone is standing next to tiger.
Everyone but Robs- She's hugging it.
Another wall has artwork.
The students pasted four apples on a page, and then wrote their names.
Simple.
But Robs' apples have legs.
Robs' apples have arms.
Robs' apples have thought bubbles that say things like
"I love you."
She has the confidence to take what she's given...
and then make it her own.
She'll take the photo... while hugging the tiger.
Yes... she'll paste the apples on the page,
but then she'll give them arms, legs, and a personality.
After the conference,
Robs' teacher asked us where we're from.
It seems such a simple question...
Steve was born in California.
I was born in Ohio.
My pirates were born in Utah, Michigan, and Louisiana.
And currently our parents no longer live in the states where we were raised.
Which makes home... wherever we are. And I love it that way.
