Robs came tearing into our room last night at approximately 2:36am.
(I wear a watch to bed for this very reason.)
She told me that giant bugs had been crawling on her legs.
I was thiiiis close to asking if Steve would check her covers...
and then thought to ask Robs what she'd been dreaming about.
"Bugs" she said. "They were green and orange caterpillars and they were following me everywhere."
Lately she's been having nightmares. Lots of nightmares- and they're mostly about bugs. Or scary people.
An article suggested we talk about them during the daytime, and help her think of creative ways to chase off the bad dreams.
Like inviting the monster in your dreams to the tea party of your dreams, automatically changing him from scary to friendly.
So last night in my sleep deprived state, I suggested she throw sugar down for the caterpillars, and then run the opposite direction.
Because caterpillars love sugar.
It didn't work. She told me she didn't have sugar in her dreams.
Any suggestions?
Or are buggy dreams a normal part of everyday life?
It MAY have something to do with her momma not liking bugs...just a thought. :-) I say try and convince her to like ideas like sugar...or if all else fails, say a prayer!
ReplyDeleteBugs in dreams.
ReplyDeleteThese sorts of dreams make people millions of dollars. for example, the "twilight" lady had a dream about a glittering vampire, and she is now wildly rich.
next time robs has a dream that is scary, congratulate her, tell her that this is exactly what you were looking for and then write down exactly what she tells you. ask her about all of the details precisely.
then write a book about it.
too late on the caterpillar idea though, I am already writing the book. it will be called.
Dr. Edgar Allen Poe's encyclopedia of flesh eating insects.
I think Bill's on the right track... :)
ReplyDeleteI had a dream last night that I was being chased by a GIANT beetle that looked like a bee - ugh. I get shivers just thinking about it. When I was a kid, the only solution was for me to crawl in bed with my parents :) But I also like Bill's suggestion. And I am keeping my rude Stephanie Meyers jokes to myself because I will offend someone and I don't want it to be you :) :) is there an emoticon for a mischevious smily face? ;.} that'll do, pig.
