And now three weeks later...
My comeback was not so much of a comeback.
Perhaps I'm going for a crawlback.

But while we're on the subject of crawling.
Alligators crawl.
And alligators live here.
Here, as in only a few short miles from my home.
(Four to be exact.)

And at the bayou this evening, I talked with a nice lady who was out on a walk.
In casual conversation, I mentioned this was all very new to us.
That we're not exactly from around here.

She said she could tell.

And then she told me about the alligators.
The ten and twelve foot alligators that live in the water.
We have yet to see those ones.
So far all we've seen is a wee six footer.

He was fishing.

Robs asked me if alligators eat people.
I said yes, but only if they are in the water.
And then she asked,
Do alligators dip the people in
chocolate,
or do they dip them in yogurt?

I told her she had a very good question,
and that it depends entirely on the person.

Two minutes later,
(what sounded an awful lot like)
a man eating bullfrog
let out with a roar.

And then she told me it was time to go home.

(As I carried her piggyback to the car, she whispered in my ear
"You're a good "big spider killer and Daddy is a good big roach killer."')

Sweet little thing.

  1. You are the only person that can make that state look beautiful. We really need to work on our vacation timing so we're actually in the same state at the same time.

  3. Christine. Nice to hear from you again. I can't say that I would EVER get the name of good Big Spider killer I hate the sound of a bug crunching...UGH. But we have the jumping spider cricket things. I call them sprickets but I do kill them with a shoe, and not much couth. It usually cames with a scream and then a gag. They really are distgusting. Also, I had a question for you. What type of camera do you have. I am in the market and I am not sure how to decide. I have it narrowed down somewhat but I would love your input. faithy_83@hotmail.com
