We went to the park this evening
and had the whole place to ourselves.
Usually we share it with softball players and their younger, non-softball siblings.
But it was vacant when we got there.
Perhaps it was the humidity.
(Which by the way, is no joking matter.)
I've renamed the state several times since we moved here.
The latest: Louisi sauna.
Self explanatory.
----------
Erik is an avid bird watcher.
...and airplane spotter.
...and tells me whenever the train comes rumbling through.
It keeps life moving
when all you want to do is slow down
and dream of October in the mountains.
-----------
Robyn took her boots off as soon as we got to the swings.
It's protocol.
I usually grab them before the bugs do.
But I was distracted.
(and minutes later...)
they were covered in ants.
Not fire ants, luckily.
Just the ones that give regular bites.
(fire ants give worse-than-regular)
-----------
And then we played.
Went home.
Ran the bath.
Washed two sweaty heads.
Kissed them soundly.
And sent them to bed.
----------
It was lovely Louisisauna evening.
Even with the ants.
