about the bugs... the weather... the missing sidewalks... the creepy neighborhoods...
I decided to stop moaning. And prove myself wrong.
I kissed our breadwinner/bacon bringer goodbye,
tucked my wee little ones into their chariot
and went exploring.
I was determined to find a stellar running trail
or atleast a delightful little park...
And after two weeks of indoors, I felt ready to embrace the humidity.
Unfortunately, Wednesday was not our day.
We were 0 for 2.
However there were several things we did find.
For example: A very grouchy dog. Who lunged, snapped and barked at us for a whole block. (No one was bit, fortunately, but I'll admit I've never made that kind of scene in my life.) I hope the neighbors enjoyed it. And to the neighbor who owns the pup... I hope to never meet you.
A creepy man. I won't go into details... but this is not the only time he's come out of his house when we run past.
We won't be running past anymore.
Several cat calls from moving vehicles.
About eight huge dogs. Tied up with ropes... while sniffing around the police station.
And a cemetery. Surrounded by thick woods. The eight dogs hadn't gotten there yet... but it appeared they were planning a visit.
At that point I'd seen enough. Atleast for a Wednesday.
So now, I'm taking this one pitiful, self-centered moment and devoting it to mourning.
I am mourning... for a non humid climate. A bug free house. Running trails.
Parks-a-plenty... the list goes on and on... but while I'm at it, I should add greener grass. Because in all honesty, thats what it really is... right?
And with that... the mourning moment is over...
I refuse to give up.
I will find a running trail... because that's just one of those things.
Kind of like food, air, and water...
I will find a park. And it will be delightful.
Mostly because delightful is purely subjective. And a subjectively delightful park is much better than no park at all.
Care for a roach update? Because I know you're dying to know....
I had a huge one skitter across my hand this afternoon. We're talking huge.
Gross and huge.
Disgusting and huge...
I will just say this:
Pray for your souls, roachies.
I'm bombing the place this weekend.

Your posts are always so entertaining! Here's hoping the bugs DIE this weekend and you find a wonderful dog free and weirdo free park soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is something that has boggled my mind since moving here. No wonder the southern states always top the list for most obese population. Hello?! It's not just the fried food; there's nowhere to run/walk/bike/play/LIVE!!!! sheesh. so basically, I commiserate. aright - rant over. You will find your piece of Christine-heaven, I promise. It is out there just waiting for you to find it and love it. And yes, please don't go running by the creepy guy again. Unless you decide to befriend/train all eight of those dogs.
ReplyDeleteI love your posts...i'm not delighting in your "mourning" they are just fun to read. I do infact have sympathy for you, and hope you do find a good park with awesome running trails soon. As for the roaches ~ Kill 'em kill 'em all!! OH and please stay away from the cemetary with the woods.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's quite the outing!! I don't even know what to say because I want to say something funny, but I know it's not a funny situation! And ditto to what Chelsy said, kill all them roaches!!
ReplyDeleteIt will get better! I promise! We moved to Maryland and i thought i was going to die because if the humidity/bugs/weird people. But eventually we found good, normal people to befriend. As soon as you can check that off the list the rest will fallow. Friends make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteHang in there.
As for the bugs and humidity... Sorry I have no tips!
